Welcome to ESPRI
The Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace (IPSL) provides the laboratories with coordination resources and services to help develop major projects and disseminate the results. For more than 20 years, the IPSL computing and data centre has been providing Ensemble of Services for Research at the IPSL (ESPRI). Thus, ESPRI is in charge of system and network administration and the life-cycle of data from the IPSL’s Climate Modelling Centre (CMC) and Centre for Earth Observation (CEO).
ESPRI was closely built to the IPSL’s scientific projects and constitutes a magnificent asset for the IPSL. ESPRI services organise the access for IPSL laboratories and their partners, to several observational datasets as well as numerical simulations into a central data repository infrastructure, such as:
- observational products (satellite or ground-based),
- climate model simulations,
- operational analyses and forecasts.
To facilitate the data analysis, ESPRI has developed an IT infrastructure which combines massive, high-performance storage and computing resources installed at École Polytechnique and on the Pierre and Marie Curie campus of Sorbonne University.
ESPRI is recognized by the Institut National des Sciences de l’Univers (INSU) from the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and by Sorbonne University, as a shared, multi-site and multi-thematic platform. ESPRI is heavily involved in the two national Research Infrastructures (RI) Climeri-France and AERIS/DATA-TERRA.
ESPRI offers to IPSL scientists and their partners well-suited resources for:
- carrying out analysis on data and simulation results describing all or some of the components of the Earth climate system (atmosphere, ocean, continental surfaces, sea ice, chemistry, biogeochemistry, etc.).
- supporting data processing and distribution activities, including within the framework of international infrastructures.
